Is this really something that we need to worry about now? Hopefully someday soon it will need to be addressed.

Some a-hole relative (in-law) of mine was talking about how he heard it was our largest Ray Jay crowd to date, and there were empty seats everywhere.  He went on to say how we can't even fill our stadium when we give tickets to all of the students.

I pointed out that unlike Gainseville, there is actually competition for entertainment dollars in Tampa.  (did I mention the guy is a gaytor?)

Well, he was right.  It was the largest RayJay crowd ever and there were a lot of empty seats -- officially 6,392 of them.

Also, many of the "empty" seats may have been in the student sections - because many students obviously don't sit in their seats (see other threads on that subject).

You are right to point out the competition for our entertainment dollar in Tampa.... but realize that 90,000 fans at the UF-MTSU game were no all residents of Alachua counties.  The fact that they have been playing football for a few years more than USF might be another difference, don't ya think?

I pointed that out as well.  My exact words were, "Give me a break, we're 8-years old."  Just ticks me off that some Gaytor wants to try to compare (unsolicited, mind you) our two teams fan bases.

Don't forget the club sections. You have a few hundred seats empty from those as well. I know the few times we have picked up club seats from someone, my kids love to sit in there instead of in the stands.

Not to mention, the people in the box seats that the corporations own.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
