After Pitt.

USF is now at 8.17 penalty avg per game for an average of 61.67 yards. The honored opponents are at 9.33 for 78.33 yards.

The trend up for USF and down for the opponents continues.

The good news is that with the two fumbles recovered, USF is at +0 for turnover margin for the year.

yeah, great post... i've noticed that too.  Our team seems to be much more poised than in past years.  Just watching UCF give 15 yarder after 15 yarder brought back too many memories of how undisciplined we used to be.  Glad Jim has gotten that under control.

until we played a good team

until we faced adversity

Didn't we have about 45 yards of penalties on 1 drive-  CB getting pass interference calls when all he had to do was turn around

After Homecoming against Syracuse

A slight drop in penalties for the Bulls and the opponents.

USF is at 7.86 penalties per game for 57.86 yards. The opponents are at 8.86 for 74.57 yards per game.

With 1 fumble lost by each team and no interceptions, USF is still at +0 turnover margin for the year so far.

USF has averaged 6.67 penalties for 44.3 yards so far this year. The opponents are at 10 for 103.33 yards.

USF best year since they started I-A is 8.17 penalties for 71.33 yards in '05. The opponents previous worst was 9.82 for 82.09 in '01.

So far the Bulls have made a big improvement in penalty discipline this year.

The above post was after the Kansas game. This post is after the NC State game.

USF is now at a 7.60 for 57.20 penalty yards per game and the opponents are at 10.20 for 88.80 penalty yards per game.

So the penalty average for USF is trending up and the average for the opponents is slowly trending down due to fewer personal foul penalties by the opponents.

But the turnover margin is improving. There were no fumbles lost or interceptions by USF QBs and the defense collected 3 picks, so the turnover margin for the season is at -1. And the Bulls finally caused some fumbles (3), but could not get to any of them before NC State did. So things are looking up.

After loss in Louisville with 14 penalties for 109 yards for USF.

USF has averaged 8.63 penalties for 64.25 yards so far this year. The opponents are at 8.5 for 71.5 yards.

Funny how in conference play USF's average goes up and the opponents goes down. Will USF ever get over the penalty problem?

BTW, the -1 turnover margin for today, also put the Bulls on -1 for the year so far.

OT:  Speaking of penalties...Did I just watch Penn State play an entire football game without a single penalty?
