Not afraid of competition, my a$$.  If his ego is that frail, let him go somewhere else.

If he doesn't think there is going to be just as stiff competition at other big schools then he has another thing coming.  To disrespect USF in this manner is unforgivable, however let's recognize that he is a JUNIOR in HS and folks at this age are not known for saying or doing the brightest things.  His commitments was only verbal and we all knew this could happen

Have a great career Jarrod.  USF is NOBODY'S bridesmaid.

Uh, guys? We are talking about a 16-year-old kid here. They have been known to say stupid things.

Especially when they haven't been through the reality of the collegiate recruiting process yet. If "you will be our No. 1 guy" isn't enough of a commitment for him, he's going to be disappointed by any school this side of Webber International.

It sounds like Fayson is just parroting what he has heard recently from other schools who are using all our new QB recruits against us to lure him away and they seem to have done a good job. He's very young and impressionable and will probably change his mind a number of times before he actually signs somewhere. I'd cut him some slack.

At least the kid spoke his mind which hardly ever happens in sports anymore.(i.e. see Leon commercal)  I wish him luck and understand why he wants too look at his options.  Wise choice.  We had no QB when he commited but now there are a plethora of top QBs coming in a year ahead of him.  I would've done the same.  You call a recruit stupid if he commits somewhere where you guys think he will sit on the bench and now you call this kid stupid because he may sit on USFs bench. Dam, cann't win around here.

1) As Gary said, this kid is only 16 yrs old.  We all said some stupid things at that age.

2)Yes, we have added Denson, but Hill and Grothe are only verbals.  We all know that until kids sign on the dotted line, verbals don't mean $hit.  I don't think we should give up on this kid.

Big deal, highschool kids change their mind every 15 minutes.  When I was a Junior I was still hell bent on attending UF ;D

of course we shouldn't give up on him... he is a great HS QB and shows major interest in us.   He realizes he committed too early.  That doesn't mean he won't realize in the next year and a half that we are the right choice anyway.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

"For me, I never considered it that way (as a stepping stone), honestly. When I was offered the head job at South Florida, and I'm sincere about this, I never thought I would ever go anywhere."
