OUCH.Seriously, that makes me wonder if Scott is completely serious about playing big-time football. It's good for him if he wants to use his football talent as a vehicle to a top-flight education, but it might soften the blow for Rutgers on the field. Their fans are always complaining about this happening at USF. Maybe the tables are starting to turn. ;DTeaneck's White, two others won't play football at Rutgers this fallby Tom Luicci/The Star-Ledger Monday July 28, 2008, 12:17 PMStar running back Rashad White of Teaneck and two other incoming scholarship freshmen won't be reporting to Rutgers for check-in in day next Monday as the Knights prepare for the start of preseason football practice.White, one of the marquee names in the class, wide receiver Malcolm Johnson and defensive end Kevin Egan will not be part of the program this year. None was listed in the school's football media guide - an indication that they either didn't make the grade and failed to qualify or had a change of heart.White, a 5-11, 170-pounder, was rated among the state's top running backs last year, but his academic status has long been the subject of speculation. A person answering the phone at the house of White's grandmother said he didn't know anything about White's plans for this fall.Johnson, a wide receiver from Bartow, Fla., could not be reached about his status. The 6-1, 170-pounder, rated the nation's No. 37 wideout by ESPN.com, is a cousin of Rutgers wide receiver Tim Brown.White rushed for 1,463 yards and 16 as a senior at Teaneck High last fall after blossoming as a junior, when he rushed for 2,386 yards and 26 TDs.The loss of White, a sub-4.4 guy, weakens an uncertain running back group. Egan, a 6-4, 235-pounder, was a late signee from Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Conn., who apparently had a change of heart about playing college football. The original incoming freshman class numbered 21 scholarship players. It is at 18 now. The 2009 class lost a running back when highly-regarded high school senior-to-be Desmond Scott of North Carolina rescind his commitment to the Knights. Scott announced he will be attending Duke instead. The class, however, still figures to be the best in school history.http://www.nj.com/rutgersfootball/index.ssf/2008/07/teanecks_white_two_others_wont.html

We only take guys who are recruited by schools such as Duke, Vandy and Purdue. http://florida.scout.com/a.z?s=168&p=8&c=1&nid=2983266

He is from Durham so it makes sense, plus his teammate had just committed to Duke not long before he changed his mind. Best of luck to him. The second best recruit might be Gerald Hodges or Abdul Smith instead of Scott.
