South Carolina paid USF $450,000 for playing a "guarantee" game.  Where does this money go and is it worth it?

I assume it goes into the general university funds, but then again I don't know.  It was worth it because we have to play good competition to become better ourselves.

It seems like each year we have a game where we take a beating, but we have to learn from them and advance.  Growing pains hurt.

The thing is, it doesn't appear we're learning anything.  In my opinion, this loss was worse than the ones to Alabama and Arkansas in the past two seasons, so you've got to wonder what Leavitt and company are really taking from these embarassments.

There's a thread on the other board about the OC, basically how did he go from HS coach to I-A OC? The answer (at least part of the answer) has to be that's what USF could afford at the time.

It cover's Leavitt's salary for the first 8 games of the season.  What a waste!

How do you figure that?  South Carolina is a middle to lower tier SEC team.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
