Quotes from the SP Times....

"They're what we have. It's kind of where we're at," said Leavitt, who is resigned to the two splitting snaps for now. "Until one of them shows they're any good, until one really moves above the other, where you can tell the quarterback can move that offense, until we get that to happen, we're going to keep on back and forth."

Still don't understand why Banks would even see the field at this point.  If you're going to split snaps, it should be between Julmiste and Gachette.  Please park Banks on the bench for good. (and don't let Bruce Gipson ever, ever, ever return a kick again!)

Julmiste WAS moving the offense vs TTU.  Then the injury.

Bringing him in in the 2nd half once the game is starting to get out of reach isn't the best way to get a barometer of where he's at.

I'd rather win or lose with PJ as our #1 to get him ready for the BE than have to suffer through a season of Banks doing the same old Banks.

We may see a bit of Gachette if things don't get any better, but I'm sure CJL will play the guy(s) that he thinks will give us the best shot at winning.

So, in other words he's not going to do anything to try and solve the problem? This is a disturbing sign

I think he's saying the other QBs on the roster aren't ready to play. If there's one thing I don't question, it's that Jim Leavitt will do whatever he thinks will help win football games. Playing Gachette or someone else at QB is apparently not an viable option.

Our QB problem started with Leavitt NOT letting Banks play enough in 2002 to prepare him to start in 2003. Leavitt has even admitted that he should probably have given Banks more playing time.

That situation was made worse when we failed to recruit ANY QB in 2003, on the assumption that anyone we could get would not be better than those we already had.

This year we signed Gachette very early on and then nobody else.

In the meantime the guys we were grooming Mullens and Kraky haven't panned out.

I know we have plenty of QB talent coming in with Denson, Hill and Grothe, but we really can't rely on any of them to start in 2005. Of them, Denson probably has the best chance since he's already enrolled at USF and will be here for Spring practice.

If Gachette is expected to at least be our #2 QB in 2005, then we MUST get him on the field early this year and not make the same mistake we did with Banks.

I doubt more garbage time for Banks in 2002 would have helped our current situation, the real failure was not being able to recruit a I-A caliber QB.  There are alot of good young QBs that come out of Florida each season and we where not able to get a single one of them.

howie- bigger and better programs start freshman

leavitt isn't a god and he has made mistakes

allowing banks to start against USC was one of them

give me the freshman louis g and if he isn't ready I blame the coaching staff for not getting him ready

i would rather lose with a freshman than a senior

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
