Who started our tradition with the Bulls' hand sign?

I'm sure I'm the only one who feels this way (I still want a stadium!), but I just don't like doing the sign. We didn't have it back in the day and it never caught on with me.

I guess deep down I feel like we're doing the Longhorn's sign.

USF's site doesn't credit anyone, while it does for most of our other traditions, which leads me to believe it just evolved.

It also has a demonstrative picture of someone NOT doing the sign.

Man, I was gonna say that!!

I know that in 2002 when I started it wasn't very popular....it wasn't til maybe 2004 that it really caught on.

HOT BAND!!! They start most of the traditions at this school..between them and the Cheerleaders/Sundolls.

HOT Band has been doing it since 1999 as part of the "Bull" or "#8" cheer.  AKA, the third down cheer, or the song where everyone waves their Bulls in the air.

If there is any alumni cheerleader or sundoll that can confirm otherwise, then I don't think there is any question that HOT started it.

BTW, i also remember being in HOT Band in 02 and doing it...alone, NO BODY ELSE DID IT back then.  Only the band and a few people who actually looked over at the band...lol

GO BULLS!!!

It has been around since I was an undergrad in the late 1980's.

Probably a while before that, too.

I was going to say it was arround way back in the early 1990s when I started at USF... so it started sometime between the tenure of BasketBull and RagingBull...

Okay, thanks, I feel better about it now. I thought we had adopted it a few years ago when football got going. Still, I hope we never have to play Texas; it's going to be a messy scene!
