KL, thanks for the 9-mile long post saying absolutely nothing.

When all else fails, baffle them with ********, right?

DP... for the record, the St. Pete Times and the Orlando Sentinel were the only papers in the most recent round of circulation reports (November 2007) to report an INCREASE in circulation.  Every other paper in Florida lost readership and saw circulation numbers shrink due to alternate forms of media.

http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/business/hancock/blog/2007/11/doh.html

"The most recent circulation numbers, which covered the six months ended 30 September, were the Sentinel’s best circulation performance in several years, the sources noted"

Sounds like they were doing just fine before they decided to blow the lid off of O'Leary's house of cards.

Your excuse doesn't fly.

Sentinel has LOST 40,000 daily subscribers over the past 2 years:

"The newspaper, which in 2005 had daily circulation figures of about 251,000, slid 10% and in 2007 reported weekday circulation of 213,406, according to industry figures."

Look for more daily subscriber losses with the Spring and Fall 2008 numbers are released.

Seriously, do you just scan things before you respond and don't take time for the words to actually sink in? Is there another source you have that contradicts this article about recent circulation trends?

Both could be accurate.  One statement was a 6 month block and it could have easily been their best in years while over the last 2 years total, subscriptions have fallen.  They both have different scales.

I was talking about K_L's declaration to look for MORE subscriber losses when the figures come out for this year. The most recent data indicates the circulation is back on an upward trend. There is nothing in that article that suggests that there would be losses in 2008 so I was just inquiring as to how he came up with that ...

Pure speculation.  While it is true that a newspaper subscription is one of the easiest things to cut out with the economy in its current state, we can only speculate what will happen.  I think there will be a decline, but I can't back it.

Because UCF grads need jobs, and delivering the paper is one thing they're eminently qualified for.  ;D
