Im breaking down this weekend and getting one, I was wondering for all you HDtv owners, what tv do you have, and how do you like it?

Im thinking the 42 inch Vizio.

Advice on where to get wall mounts/ entertainment/tv stands?

I have a 52" RCA HDTV.  I love it.  If you can afford it I would suggest getting a home theater system also.  Makes all the difference with the sound.

When will the "cable to HD" switch happen?  I am most definitely going to wait until after then to get mine.

I have a 42" Samsung plasma.  You certainly need a surround sound system with this one (and in my opinion any HDTV).  Having a good HDTV without a system is like drinking a fine wine at Mickey D's.

I highly reccommend getting the 1080p as opposed to the 720p.  Blue Ray can only be displayed on a 1080p and blue ray is the shiznit.

The "switch" is not cable to hd... it is analog to digital...  meaning antenna and rabbit ears won't work.

You don't need to have an HD tv... although I highly recommend it.  I recently bought a 47" philips lcd and it is very nice!  (if I am wrong on the switch, please provide a link so I can update myself on the facts :) )

Also, home theater = VERRY NICE!

If you don't need a plasma and can accommodate a larger projection tv, Walmart has a 52" RCA HDTV for $748.  It's on walmart.com if you want to see it... the reviews are all that that great for it though.

Most HDTV owners wish they would have bought a bigger HDTV. Make sure 42" is exactly what you want, there are plenty of affordable 46-50" out there, and they don't look too big on a bedroom. As for cables, and mounts I get all of them from monoprice.com. You can get an HDMI cable for about $6 compared to the overpriced cables they try to sell you at Circuit City and Best Buy. Those cables either work, or they don't, there is no advantage on buying a $40 HDMI cable according to many studies. The mounts are cheap too, and should cost you no more than $35.
