USF Econ department doesn't really do a good job at telling you this, so this is my Public Service Announcement. Although, the Econ department is teaching with SAS now I believe. Just a word to the wise who are still in school and would like to be ahead of the game by the time they graduate.

Many moons ago, the MIS or CS/CE were the only tracks that went beyond COMPUTERS 101.The reason I ask is, I did a CO-OP stint with GTEDS (now Verizon) and I think that really did a lot as far as marketability. Is there something akin to that for ECON?

Is there anything locally - in Tampa - where these fields of study would be applied? The reason I ask is, I've run across quite a few people with one discipline in college and something completely unrelated for employment.

They've replaced 'System' with 'Software' now. Basically, it's software used as an analytical tool.SQL is 'Structured Query Language'. You hear it pronounced 'Sequel'. It's application server software that allows you to query, modify and manage databases. A lot of software packages use this type of database, including my company's.
