If Doug Woolard wasn't sharing that money with the coaching staff then there would be something very wrong with our commitment to football. In a time of rapidly accelerating college coaching salaries, seeing Rich Rod getting nearly $3M a year this was right on target for him.

The $1.8 mil figure doesn't hit until 2014. How do you know what the resources are? Have you been examining the books?
Greg Auman Posted February 2, 2008 Group: Member Topic Count: 0 Content Count: 1,913 Reputation: 58 Days Won: 2 Joined: 08/12/2004 Share Posted February 2, 2008 We used 70 percent because it covers the overlap period of the two contracts. Leavitt would have made $5-million from 2008-2012 under the old deal, and he'll now make $8.5-million over the same span. You could make a case for 80 percent, just because both are seven-year deals and it goes from $7-million to $12.6-million, but there's also some inflation involved over the two years -- it's not completely fair to replace the 2005 and 2006 salaries with 2013 and 2014 salaries and compare them apples to apples. You could also say that his salary increases 50 percent from 2007 to 2008 and it'd be entirely accurate. I don't think he's going to coach to 2014 on this contract (not saying he'll leave, but that they'll likely re-up before then) so I felt like the 70 percent figure was the most accurate choice. The $1.8 mil figure doesn't hit until 2014. How do you know what the resources are? Have you been examining the books?I am not privey to the books or future plans...resource managment is the question.I do not see shovels in the ground for a dining hall, i do not see new surfaces going into the practice feilds.AND THESE ARE THE THINGS CJL HAS BEEN ASKING FOR AND COMPLAINING ABOUT.CJL has not asked for more money, he has not even entertained any offers (as far as we know)finally Rich Rod did not leave WVU simply for more money...things that were promised were SLOW in comming.so for me personally i would have rather CJL get $400K less (still a very nice 40% reward) and ALSO get an announcement that the dining hall would start in april and be done by next recruiting season or our new practice field will be ready for fall practice. Imagine for one sec 2009 rolls around and CJL LEAVES for OSU/TX or wherever for a few more bucks and we still have not started on the dining hall...I think almost everyone here would be up the AD's butt (see wvu). my point is: CJL complains about the dining hall and the practice field...the first thing I am addressing when resources roooll in is the dining hall and practice field.my $0.
