So my wife wants one of these things... and they're nowhere to be found... aside from the Super Deluxe "Comes With 10 Crappy Games for $600" packages.  I just want the basic Wii with Wii Sports.

Seriously, who's leg do you have to hump to find a Wii?

Ebay's probably your only hope, and be prepared to pay out the but.

Quite a racket nintendo has going... purposely creating inflation in value of their product by offering limited qty released each week.

I found a guy who is selling them for cost plus inflated shipping... still under $300 with a day or so to go.  Might jump on it if nothing else pops up.

Buddy up with someone at a Target.  That's how we got ours.  They told us when the truck was coming and we went first thing in the morning and got a Wii.

Yeah make friends with someone in a best buy, target, or walmart most people i know go one with in a week or 2 with just making some calls every day and checking in teh stores a couple times.

I know 2 Blockbusters in St Pete area get them every Tuesday, and they dont put them out they just have a sign saying ask for them. I can get you the locations and numbers if you want, I dont know if thats in your area. Then you can just buy the Wii Sports package from .

I got mine through GameStop. They were taking rainchecks. Went in the day before Christmas, paid for it and got a nice little card to put under tree. They said it would be in the end of January but got it the 3rd or 4th. Don't know if they're still doing rainchecks but it may be worth a try.

The Target angle worked for us - they get their shipments in on Saturday nights, I'm told...we lined up about an hour before the store opened on Sunday...my son wnated to get there earlier than that, and I basically told him he was nuts - no one else would be in line for one at that hour, and when we got there, we were number 13 in line.  This was about a year ago, however...about 10 minutes before store was to open, the manager came out and escorted us all in (something about the alarms on a timer, and we had to go thru a separate door), back to the electronics section, store was quiet, lights off, no one talking, just business...it had a kind of Willy Wonka/Poseidon Adventure feel to it...long story short, we got one and went home happy...

One interesting USF tidbit here, though...in our group was former (then current) USF receiver coach Lawrence Dawsey - that was right around the time he announced he was leaving for FSU - he was all decked out in Seminole gear...he got his Wii, too..
