USF Wrestling - January Tournament

I ran across a few USF wrestlers at the Bullspen fiesta, and they mentioned that USF was hosting a tournament in January.

Unfortunately, it looks like the USF Wrestling website (http://www.ctr.usf.edu/wrestling/) could be a tad out of date,

so if anyone has any info on this, I'd be most appreciative.

If you didn't know, USF does indeed have a wrestling team, albeit at the 'club' level (similar to USF Hockey) to adhere to

Title IX guidelines.

Again, thanks for any schedule updates available.

They have a contact listed, but no web site or schedule

I hadnt heard of them hosting a tournament, usually the SCC (Sports Club Council) is pretty good about circulating big events and tournaments within the clubs. That doesnt mean they arent having one though- as long as it isnt the weekend of the hockey tournament I'm down for supporting a fellow club. The hockey team and cycling team have a good relationship of supporting each other, and I would like to expand on that.

I hadn't heard anything either from the SCC. I'm glad that people are taking such an interest in the other sports at USF, like hockey, wrestling, ULTIMATE, and lacrosse. We have some really good programs. For example, the men's Rugby team won the Florida Cup back in December, making them the best college team in the state, and also had a player selected to the United States National Team. It's a great time to be a Bull.

I agree outrunner, a lot of these athletes dont get respect or recognition. The hockey club has ex NCAA players that just wanted some warm weather, 2 ACHA All Americans, and the #1 scorer in the country in all DIII (140+ teams). I wish these sports got a fraction of more support to help them move forward. You dont see the Oracle or the Times reporting the hockey team raising $8,000 for 2 children with cancer, but all I heard at Thanksgiving was how every NCAA athlete helped collect 700 lbs of food- thats only 2 lbs per athlete.

Maybe we should have a scandel.....  >
