SOUTH FLORIDA – 2006: Worked as a situational backup in the secondary and also on special teams...Had two tackles, both coming in USF’s Bowl win over East Carolina (12/23)...Played in nine of USF’s 13 games, missing four mid-year games with a quadriceps injury.

Grothe had a good year, when you are the ENTIRE offense, you are going to make mistakes. He probably should be the MVP. The defense as a whole deserves it, great play all around.

But, my thought is this...

Grothe probably didn't do as well as expected (and I think it is because he had to do too much, not a sophomore slump)

Ford was good, but not enough of an impact.

Jenkins, T Williams, Moffitt did what we expected

Selvie was way better than expected, but not shocking what he did.

All that said, if I had a vote, I go with McKenzie. He is a guy that stepped into a great defense, and did more than fill a gap left by Nicholas. He is a stud, and has played like one. Forced fumble against WVU was huge. How many times did he tackle Slaton? T-Mac in my opinion should be our MVP just because what he did this year was totally unexpected.

As another said, this team goes as Grothe goes. If you really think that Gregory would be winning all the games that Grothe wins, the God have mercy on your soul. Grothe is a play maker. Defenses are worn out/un-inspired by the time Gregory takes the field. He has looked good, but I don't think any defense is going to worry about him the way they do Matt.

As for having a "way" better arm, Grothe gets the job done. At least 5 deep balls this season should have been caught and werent because the receiver lost their footing, or tried to dive about 3 steps too early. Grothe had some zip on the ball yesterday. I think a lot of times, he actually has touch on his passes intentionally. Does he have a Brett Favre arm, no, but it's strong enough.

I Love Grothe, Ford, Taurus and the Offense...

BUT, the Defense have been workhorses for us this year when it has mattered most.  I hate to say this, but, if not for the defense, we would have lost 2, maybe 3 of the close ones.  Def. PITT and Auburn...maybe WVU.

The D kept us in the Cincy AND UConn game.  I'm sorry but Grothe threw too many interceptions @ UConn and Cincy.  Those were the difference makers...

Which is why i'd go with Big Ben Moffitt or a longshot at perhaps Jenkins/Selvie.

Grothe will get this eventually...trust me.

GO BULLS!!!

true...he filled a void people doubted could be filled. I think we have several. Good point. Grothe is the obvious, without some bonehead sacks and a few timely throw aways i think he rushes for a thousand yards and has a few less picks and there is no discussion here. I think what he has done is incredible,so instead of picking one. Im going to say the entire team for pulling out a great season. Im going to also add, walt walker...could be in the discussion considering without him we lost. With him we win.

He did in 2006, No Team MVP is given. Only Offense & Defense.

I think Moffitt is my choice...

Selvie very close... As is McKenzie... Real hard to not choose Jenkins or Williams...

Grothe will be the next two years...

moffitt disappeared in 3 losses

grothe is the mvp

Grothe's mistakes were a BIG part of those 3 losses... by that logic he must be excluded.  Jenkins has my vote, hands down.

Easily Grothe.

I disagree very much so, Grothe was responsible for none of our big wins and responsible for all of our losses by not performing in crunch time. ...

Everyone has their own perception.

Grothe should have been on Special Teams TWICE against Rutgers ad should have stopped Rice from running up the middle. He also should have not let Walker get hurt and should have a better backup prepared.

I won't waste time with the other two loses that OUR TEAM lost ... and remember, OUR TEAM won 9 games. Not 1 person is responsible either way. Football is a team sport.
