I have seen flights from $367 from TPA to el paso. Why would anyone drive?

Based on someone average 33 mpg it would take approximately 100 gallons of gas RT from TPA to El PAso.

at ~$3.20 a gallon that would be around ~$320 to $370 dollars RT in a moderately fuel efficient car. If you are driving an SUV forget about it....

Well, if you're driving from Tampa to El Paso and back, there isn't any time to play tourist...

I was referring how the drive on I-10 will be rather boring.

Done it four times in six months - from TPA to Austin three times, TX to TPA once and TX to Auburn and back.  Its boring and driving at nite is the best especially in the FL panhandle.  The stretch from Tallahassee to Pensacola is brutal. I12 & west LA are pretty boring too.  And be careful in TX, the state troopers are friggin Nazis.  Don't go more than 8 mph over or you will be ticket meat.  Consider tAking I610 around Houston if you are there in during the rush hrs.
