Can you clarify or confirm the section in bold for us??

Thanks!!

If there are no upsets Saturday (what no upsets in college football?), the Big East standings would look this way: West Virginia (5-1 and Big East champ), UConn (5-2), USF (4-3), Cincinnati (4-3) and Rutgers (3-3; with a game remaining Nov. 29 at Louisville) - and we’ll assume Rutgers wins to get to 4-3.

That means, the Sun Bowl gets the second selection and could take UConn, USF, Cincinnati and Rutgers, since they are all within one league win of each other.

After that the Meineke Car Care Bowl gets the next selection followed by Papajohns.com and International bowls, which share the fourth selection.

Jim, if WVU beats UConn, USF beats Pitt and Cincy beats Syracuse; and the following week Rutgers beats UL; UConn would have five Big East wins; USF, Cincy and Rutgers would all have four wins each.

Under Big East rules you have to select the bowl eligible team with the most league wins OR a team within one win of that team. Since UConn is at five wins and USF, Cincy, Rutgers would all be at four wins, the Sun Bowl has the option of taking any of those four schools.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

I like the part about "within one win" of the other team.  With a schedule of only 7 conference games, that's not real tough to achieve.  ???

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
