Out of town fans = $$$$$

$$$$$ = happy bowl committees

Yes, I would have been glad to see us go to Jacksonville, but as the season went on I knew the odds were lesser and lesser.

Oh yeah, and name me one BCS conference that tries to get their teams selected by rank.  Bowl games have an order of selection process, not 2nd place Conference X vs. 3rd place Conference Z

Doesn't ACC do it by rank now?  For years nobody wanted to go to Boise to play in that game on the SmurfTurf.  I thought the ACC changed its procedure on that.

Other than who gets to represent the BCS conferences in BCS bowls...

There are no conferences in college football whose teams go to bowls based on their standings in the regular season.

None.

Zip.

Nada.

Every single conference gives it's bowls the CHOICE of which teams to select.

Which is how the SECOND PLACE Georgia Tech went to the THIRD CHOICE Gator Bowl last year.

Jim, don't mean to question your unending knowledge, but I think the Gator is the #2 Bowl for the ACC.

From the ACC website...

The Konica Minolta Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, Fla. (Jan. 1, 1 p.m. ET on CBS) has the second selection of ACC teams after the BCS commitments are fulfilled. If not the next available team in the ACC standings, then must be within one conference win of the second-place team or be ranked more than five spaces ahead of the ACC team with the best Conference record available in the Final BCS Standings. The opponent is the third selection out of the Big 12 Conference after the BCS Selections have been made OR the first available Big East team after the BCS selections OR Notre Dame.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

“This is not a broken football program by any means. It just needs to be united, to get everybody on the same page, share that same vision, and really to have that standard - best is the standard.”
