, Fla. --  USF true freshman running back Mike was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Monday morning.

Ford ran for a career high 140 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulls 55-17 win over Louisville.  He became the first freshman in USF history to rush for 100 yards in back-to-back games.

He opened the night with a 43-yard run on his first carry and then raced 23 yards on his third carry. He needed 24 carries to rack up the 140 yards.  The Sarasota native has accumulated 273 yards on the ground in the last two games.

He has 574 yards on the season and 10 TD. The rushing total is the second best freshman single season mark in Bulls history and the TD mark is a rookie record.  The freshman rushing yards record is 729 by Rafael Williams in 1997.  The USF single season rushing TD record is 13 set by Andre Hall in 2005.

It is the first BIG EAST honor of Ford's young career.

USF sophomore DB Jerome Murphy was also named to the BIG EAST Defensive Honor Roll.

Murphy started and ended a record night for the Bulls defense. On the opening kickoff, Murphy put his helmet on the ball and forced a fumble that was picked up and taken in for a touchdown by teammate Nate Allen.  In the fourth quarter, Murphy would snag an interception that was the seventh turnover forced on the night, which is a USF single game record.  Murphy also had four solo tackles and one pass breakup.

USF is 8-3 overall and 3-3 in conference action. The Bulls need one win to tie the program record for victories.  USF won nine games - the high mark in 11 years of football competition - in 2002 and 2006.  The Bulls’ two season win total of 17 - 2006 and this season - is tied for the most in program history.

A win at Pittsburgh on Saturday would make it the most successful two-year run in school history.  A 10-win season is also possible with an upcoming postseason bowl.

The Bulls and Panthers will square off at Noon at Heinz Field.  The game will be broadcast by ESPN Regional and televised live in the Tampa market by WFTS.

Lets just get ready for 2008-09.  This year is spent.  We will be 8-4 or 9-3 and get a toilet bowl in Canada....what a bunch of crap.

UCONN did us in.  CINCY did us in.  Too bad for Bulls - I love em anyway but toilet bowl here we come (unless there are some awful upsets in next 2 weeks).

9-3 would be an improvement and we get a second chance at the Meineke... and WIN it this time... against POSSIBLY Florida State.

We have a chance to win 10 games in a season!

Baby steps, people!  Baby steps!

In recent news:

Mike Fords recent BE Offensive Honor is currently being reviewed by officials and awaiting the announcement if the honor stands for USF.

Any updates on that? I heard they are reviewing every play just to make sure there wasn't a missed holding call.

After review the call is; Illegal propelling of Mike Ford for BE Offensive Honor resulting from a push off... there was no announcement signal given, the honor stands..  ;D

I wonder if Schiano called up the BE and complained about Ford's honor.  I can see him pissed that Ford will be the next Rice of the Big East.

:ROFLMAO

Rutgers will go back to being a joke as soon as Rice leaves. God willing, that will be after this season. I (along will all Bulls fans, players, and coaches I'm sure) would love to see him running in the NFL next year.
