WOW! What a year so far. Man, was I looking forward to college football all year long and never did I expect or image what a great time I would be having. The Bulls winning against Auburn (@Auburn and me there to watch), beating WVU at a record home crowd (lost my voice for a week), another sell out against that Orland school, and being ranked not only in the top 25 but making it to the #2 spot.

If you had told me this before the season started I would have probably smiled at you and once I turned my back, I would have rolled my eyes and would have done the crazy symbol.

Now we were beaten by an unranked Rutgers (IMO under-rated). I know they were not ranked but this was not a BLOW-OUT. We lost to a good team on a given Thursday night. As the saying goes, on any given Sunday someone wins and someone doesn't. This exposed where we need to work out and on certain issues. I, not being the coach (CJL, glad it's you at the helm) can only guess and speculate. I believe Friday was not a day of "business as usual" for the team, especially the coaching staff. Fault could be placed in many places and on many heads but I will leave that up to CJL. Was it the O or the D or the band not being there or that we didn't have enough fans there to support us or that the water boy spiked the kool-aid, I don't know and I realize message boards are just for that-to air ones thoughts  and feelings, so as not to go insane (blowing off steam).

When I speak to people of the Bulls they are amazed of how much of a fan I am and yes I have even dreamt about games (proud to say). So did I want to find a hole and die, cry my eyes out till they bled or run my Hummer off the Skyway after losing to Rutgers? Sure, you bet ya. But man, I have to say, what a thrill it has been to see day after day the media mentioning our name (USF, University of South Florida, South Florida and the da fricken bad ass BULLS!) on almost every local, national and sports channel. I can remember the days when we weren't even in our own local paper. Now people on the news are proud to say they are graduates of USF instead of hearing UF, FSU or even that socialist 3rd world country university (Miami for those of you that don't realize that it is not part of the U.S.), and sorry, I don't acknowledge Mickey Mouse U. Actually no apologies for that one.

So this is a thank you to USF, the Bulls, CJL and to you all (every crazed-out Bulls fan: die hard, banwagoners or otherwise). This of course is not to say that it's over and the end is here but man, this is college football at it's best (sure everyone, including myself) wants a perfect season. In a way for one glorious moment we did have a perfect season and everyone was dreaming of how they would spend their lottery winnings-NC game, Hiesman Trophy.

Hope keeps a dream alive and I am full of hope for this dream season to come to life. I wish this team and all the fans (which in a way are a part of the team, for without the fans there is no team) all the great feelings I am enjoying as I watch my Bulls play, on the national scene-PEOPLE!. One day this will be old news but right now I am savouring these moments just as I savoured the moment of opening night. You just can't best "your first kiss".

I can't wait to turn the corner or wait for the new day and see what surprise is around the bend. For now all I have to say is, "U-Conn get ready because here comes the Bulls and here comes the "BOOM" '.

The best is yet to come.  Be proud, be loud! :gobulls

I have a feeling the rest of the Bulls' games are going to be great just like the Rutgers game was (close and competitive). Hopefully we'll end up on the winning end of them. As you said, I also believe that the best has yet to come. GO BULLS!

My goal before the season began was to finish 9 - 3, an improvement over last year. We had one running back that ever took a snap at the college level, 4 new coaches, the awaiting "sophomore slump" at QB, but a very favorable home schedule.

Looking at our future schedules, I picked '09 as the year we finally win the Big East.

A thrill ride erupted between then and now.

We have gone from being the "skunk in the BCS garden" to now being questioned for the National Championship game, but not even looked at as inappropriate for a BCS bowl.  For those of you who are always concerned about the respect this program gets, this is a clear indication that we are now recognized and accepted as a player on the national scene.

Go Bulls!

I think you are right, numbah.  We ARE respected and it is up to us to lose.  Anyone now who claims that we are not getting the props we deserve is into drama.  Everything we got was earned by the players and the coaches.  There were no freebies.  But we got it.  And this schools deserves it.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

Last I checked the scoreboard doesn't have a spot for current bank balance on it.
