i still think he is our man in the future... hes in the doghouse for his inability to block and habit of putting the ball on the ground. He is the best pure running back we have.

agreed. I watched him in High School. Disappointed a little, but at least glad he's playing for the home team and not for some idiot in Bama'

Without a doubt we should have had a clear number one, two and three running back set up figured out by the end of the third game. The only big game any back has had was BW against FAU. He has talent, but he got those carries by default. Had others been available, then they would have split the carries and we would have lost.

I don't see why they can't name a starter and give it a shot. In addition, stop running them out of the spread shotgun formation. That half second delay lets everyone get in the backfield. Put Ford back there with a blocker and let him run. Give Grothe some support... =/

And as long as that remains the case we will not be good enough.  Grothe's running should supplement our running game - not be our running game.

That's correct.  We saw in the second half at Rutgers what a one dimensional attack gets you - - beat!!  I'm sure UConn, Cincy and Louisville all took copius notes on what to do to get a win against us.  We have to improve big time if we expect to win out.  No roll outs, no screens, and not throwing the ball away when a team is blitzing the way Rutgers was will doom Grothe to huge sack losses, which it did.  Our run blocking has been subpar all year and I don't see it improving for the next half, therefore we better have some other game plan than that.  I just don't think our OC is creative enough to come up with a couple of extra dimensions to this offense.  One dimensional with receivers that drop many balls - dang!!
