On Thursday, Iorio announced she was making a friendly wager with the mayor of Orlando, Buddy Dyer, on the outcome of the Bulls game against the University of Central Florida Knights. The wager has become an annual tradition, and this year Mayor Dyer has agreed to offer Mayor Iorio a Darden meal if USF pulls off is victorious on Saturday. Likewise, if UCF should upset the Bulls, Mayor Iorio will send Mayor Dyer some of Tampa's famous Cuban sandwiches from the Columbia Restaurant. Last month, Mayor Iorio declared each Friday before a home game 'Green and Gold Day' in Tampa, encouraging all fans to support the team by wearing USF gear and school colors on October 12, November 2, and November 16. The Bulls host the Knights on Saturday at noon at Raymond James Stadium. http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail?contentId=4610431&version=2&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=TSTY&pageId=3.2.1Darden meal? Then they must parade through the student center, athletics building and administration building and stop to eat lunch in the cafeteria. Whenever anyone comes up to heckle them they have to say "GO mascot"

Aren't these sort of public displays reserved for REAL games. I seem to remember mayorial wager's being placed before the Bucs NFC Championship game and Super Bowl, but when the Bucs face the winless Saints this year, will we mark the occasion with another some gumbo from Ray Nagin?I'm not trying to piss on anyone's parade here, but c'mon. It is UCF. They are fighting to stay above .500. We are fighting to stay unbeaten. We are #5 in the country. Surely we can hold off wagers till a real event arrives, like say a bowl game or a battle of undefeateds with the conference championship on the line. Shall we wager with Pitt on the season finale? Then why UCiF? ??? ???

This smells of media hype trying to push USF and UCF into the same lame corner. We're out of that corner and we sure as hell never want to get put back there again. Making a bet? not needed.
