I hope not, though it is certainly possible he would. Selvie, if you read this ... DON'T LEAVE! Stay and finish your degree (always want that education because you never know what may happen on the field)! Not only do you get an education but you will have a really good chance at going up in the draft and a championship (our shot at the BE title is growing closer each week).  :)

Selvie Picks Up National Honor

SelvieTAMPA, Fla. – University of South Florida sophomore defensive end George Selvie was named Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week.

The Pensacola native continued his blistering defensive pace with three sacks and five tackles for loss in USF’s 37-10 win over North Carolina on Saturday.

Selvie already has 8.5 sacks and 14.5 TFL for loss this season, both of which lead the NCAA, despite the fact that USF has only played three games this season.

“His numbers are unbelievable,” said USF defensive coordinator Wally Burnham.  “George is successful because of the way he practices every day. He prepares the right way and the results are showing.”

As a freshman last season, Selvie had 5.5 sacks and 15 TFL.

It is the second consecutive game that the Bulls have had a player honored with a National Award.

Nate Allen was named National Defensive Player of the Week by the Nagurksi Award and FWAA after collecting an interception, forced fumble and recovered fumble at No. 17 Auburn.

Through just three games, Selvie is 1.5 away from the USF single season sack record (10) and 5.5 away from the TFL record (20).

Perhaps the craziest part about Selvie’s work against the Tar Heels is that it was actually his second best game of the year.

Selvie established a new USF single game record with six TFL against Elon and tied the Bull record with four sacks in the same game.

This is great for Selvie and USF.  Our defense is so awesome I wouldn't be surprised if we get some more of these during the season.  It would be nice to see someone put on a show Friday night and get one next week.  This just goes to show you how much national attention we are getting.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
