At the spring game, I noticed several people were having trouble with their canopies and the wind.  I'm thinking about adding a canopy to my tailgate party, but I'm kind of hesitant to purchase if it's going to blow away.

Anybody have any suggestions, or know of a good tailgating canopy to purchase?

Where did you get yours and what do you think of it?

Saw this one on sale at Sports Authority website. Not bad for $150.

They were having an in-store sale on others if you can get to one.

As far as them blowing away. I've had very little problem with mine so I wouldn't worry about that. I got mine at Sports Authority years ago.

I noticed one at the new ****'s at Brandon Mall.  12 x 12 for only $89 or so.  Plus it was green.  Not sure if that was a limited time thing or not, but I thought it was a great price.  Would've bought it if I didn't already have a nice one.

I think tailgate tents are a must have.  Also have to buy a tarp or something to clamp to the west side of the tent to block the sun as it sets.

You can always get the spikes to anchor it down if it's windy.

Thanks!

I parked next to a guy, and the wind was giving him a real hard time.  In fact, one gust almost blew the thing on top of my Xterra.  The family in front of my tailgate had a canopy with the sides on it and they were fine.

I didn't want to purchase a $100 car destroying missile.   ;D

Not bad, except you can only enter/exit on one side.  It might sound funny, but that could get cramped.

Zonald was the only one having an issue with his tent/canopy, and that was because one of the connecting bars snapped due to the wind and being tied down.

If you were talking about the one I posted, those sides roll up and can be detached, I believe, if you don't need the shade.

We had trouble with our tent but thats because the person who owns the canopy didn't bring the spikes to keep it down.  The wind at the spring game was unusual.  Its rare that the wind is ever that strong during the season so don't let the wind keep you buying one.  Nine times out of ten it won't be an issue

you don't need a screen on the thing, it will just add to the wind problem. I suggest buying one that doesn't piece together, giant pain in the arse. Get one that just opens up. They are a little more  but well worth the trouble. I've used one for years and never had problems with the wind. The typical tailagting weather at Ray Jay is a blazing sun with little to no win.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
