You are right about how busy of a background it is.  The only icon on my desktop is Eclipse, so it doesn't really bother me, but an Iconic U would be nice.

This happened to me too. What I did is download the lower res version and set it to "center" on the desktop. It doesnt fill up the entire screen, so I made the remainder portion (where my icons are) black.

A simple plain backgroud with a large iconic 'U' would be nice, similar to the one that was on this board that had the 'U' on a background of jersey material.
