I know most everyone was rooting against Seth today, but it was hard for me not to root for V.Tech with Ced Smith on their bench.  Great player and great person. I wish he was a little further enough along in his coaching career that he would be a serious canidate for the open position.

Cedric was one of my favorite players but he would have to be eons ahead of where he is right now to be a serious candidate considering all the criteria that has been tossed about in here regarding the position.

Well, I have to leave the cave now and then...I lost track of Smitty...didn't know (maybe I did at one time) that he was with Seth.  That is great.  Ced was a real competitor, a guy that played beyond expectations.  Loved watching him develop.  It'd be nice to see him come home sometime.

Wow I had no idea  Cedric was with Greenburg either.  Thats is awesome.  I knew him when we were both students and he was always funny and down to earth.  you can tell he would be successful in whatever he did.  Best of luck to him.

With not much else to base my comment on other than seeing him play, I would completely agree with you.  I spoke with him once or twice.  A tribute to the SG era.

And, as I recall, Seth stumbled upon him at Fork Union when he was there to see Artha Reeves.  Good eye Seth.

If SG had had more hard-working, overachieving guys like Cedric on his team and fewer guys who didn't play up to their talent, he might still be here and USF probably would have made the NCAAs at some point.

I bullieve Minceberg still talks to Ced on a regualr basis... he is a good guy and I'm glad Seth gave him a job at VaTech. It'll be interesting to see if Ced eventually jumps ship as he is getting more experience by the year. He's a great guy. I wish the best for him!

Wasn't Ced an assistant at St. Leo? The best thing about Ced is that he did everything that was asked: score, rebound, play D, and hustled his a$$ off. He is about 5-7 years away from being a head coach somewhere.

not a candidate!

Who said anything about him being a candidate?

Back on topic...

My son went to a few Seth Greenberg basketball camps and Ced was the player that coached his group one year.  He loved him.
