  1. I tell you. This is like living national signing day over and over again. Except instead of 18 year old kids we're waiting on middle-aged men. Let's hope we don't get "Ingramed". I can't wait until we're moving forward.
  2. If we pay a million, we better get something more for our money. I rather pay 600K and use the rest of the money on recruiting, travel ,etc. It's not that I don't like Lavin, but I don't think he is worth a million.
  3. Agreed, Paul was a great adminsitrator. He lacked on the people skills. When I was there we had an on going pool in the athletic department where the pot would go to someone who got PG to give you a high five. His nickname was Darth Vader.
  4. I agree, Amaker would be a good choice. I've thought that we would benefit more from an "established" coach. The problem was that most of those guys (Lappas, Jarvis, Lavin) were not guys we wanted. While an up and commer or a big time assistant are good options, I think we need someone with a name. Being that we don't have the money to sway a top flight coach, I think Amaker would be a good option. You have to think we are going to be last in line for the likes of Grant and some of the other mid-major head coaches.
  5. Good point. I often felt that way b/f leaving for sprinkb reak. Not sure I expressed it in the same way but hey....Let's hope that is the case.
  6. I was wondering if commiting resorces to hoops would cause friction with the other coaches. Leavitt wants a mess hall, Lelo and Ken want stadiums and I'm sure Jose won't like mens hoops getting more when he has been doing well of late. At least if they decide to build a practice facility Jose will be able to use it. Hopefully the greater good of the athletic program will prevail.
  7. I know most everyone was rooting against Seth today, but it was hard for me not to root for V.Tech with Ced Smith on their bench. Great player and great person. I wish he was a little further enough along in his coaching career that he would be a serious canidate for the open position.
  8. Best of luck to RMC. I just think that he is better suited as a 1st assistant. He can play the good cop to the head coach. Coach Magadan, now at St.Leo would always play good cop to Greenberg. Not trying to make this a Greenberg threat. just making an analogy from my experience in hoops.
  9. I was thinking about Lavin the other day after seeing him on ESPN. While I realize the high profile assistant may pay dividends, I think we need someone with established credibility as a head coach. Snyder has too much baggage for Woolard to take on. Fran Fracilla (sp) might be an option because of his northeast connections, althought if I remember correctly he had a stint at The John that didn't end well. What about Steve Fisher? I only mention him b/c in my past life I dealt with him on a business transaction. I know he had a home in Fort Myers. I'm curious to see if we go the assistant route if Wojo will be in the mix. I didn't follow the mid-majors enough to know about any of the up and coming head coaches.
  10. I've been listening to The Mike Pepper Show on the way to work in the morning and I like what I hear. They cover USF pretty well. I know most of us don't care for some of the other personalities on the air in the bay area. I hope they can keep it up and we can support them.
  11. I was told by someone in the department that they did offer to match Frey's salary. What they couldn't match was the bonus money that the WVU assistants receive. I was told it is quite significant. This coupled with the change of scenery and the fact that he gets to work with his best friend factored into his decision. I appreciate his time here. I can remember when he and some of the other assistants would work the softball fields for extra money early on.
  12. Dr. Leffers is no longer at FOI. He took a position with the university to help begin an orthopedic residency program. He is still practicing at a location on campus (not exactly sure where) around the med school. He is the first guy I would go to.
  13. Sanderson deserves the nod at punter over Baker. Check the record book.
  14. Last time in Birmingham for the Bama game I had some of the funniest cab drivers. Definitely won't mind the cabs.
  15. Scott Glaser has done some minor renovations since becoming director. Painting, new signage. They've recently re-done the green and gold room. Obviously money isn't readily available. The Athletic Department went for an increase in student fees to renovate the dome but didn't get all they were looking for. Not sure of the current status. I'm not sure if a complete renovation is in the short-term plans as of now.
