I just want to point out something McCullum should be very proud of.  it is easy to point out the negatives in his career at Usf simply because he was not winning.

On a positive note, solomon Jones STARTED on Wednesday night for the Atlanta Hawks and they pulled out a rare victory.  Sol played 23 minutes, scored 8 points, 4 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.  He went 2-4 from the field and 4-4 from the free throw line.  Tonight he didnt get the start (marvin williams #2 or 3 pick is back) but was the first man off the bench and came in pretty quickly.  That is very impressive for a rookie drafted in the 2nd round.  Mac recruited and helped develop his career, which eventually got him drafted and a job in the nba, which IMO is the toughest sport to make it in due to only have 12 players on an active roster and only the best of the best make it.

Job well done Mac and Solomon.

I saw the box and, from the position of his stats, wondered if he started ... ****, that's great. He hadn't been getting that much PT before this, had he? Injuries or just a shake-up the reason for the start?

gransberry may follow in those footsteps soon

other positives,

a well run program ncaa not sniffing around

there is talent on this team so new coach is not starting from ground zero

i do not expect anyone on this team to bolt when the new coach comes in a puts his program in place.

i do wish mac the best, and hope he lands in a better situation.

he has left the program in better shape than he found it, there is a solid foundation to build on. if the next coach cannot get traction in three years he should be gone, b/c he has few of the disadvantages that mac had to start with, IMO.

Mac gave it his best and has results to prove it. Unfortunately his results did not put people in the seats and that is the bottom line. He will do well elsewhere just as our new coach will, thanks to Mac.

Atlanta isnt very deep.  joe johnson may be out for the season and even though they play different positions, Solomon will get some extra PT for it.  Marvin Williams was out with a bad back the game Sol started, but it seemed all year he was getting some good time until about a month ago when they stopped playing him as much.  Dont know why the sudden change again, must be impressing the coaches in practice.

It'd be nice if TBS would carry their games so we'd have a chance to see him down here...

turner sold the hawks long ago.  thats the only reason they were on TBS.  just like you hardly ever see the cubs on WGN anymore.

turner also sold the braves, so no more braves on tbs either.  fsn has gobbled up just about every contract when it comes to broadcasting rights

Solomon had 6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and a steal tonight in another Hawks win.

He also fouled out in 20 mintes of play.  I call that hard defense.
