A Winning Night

Join the Pinellas County Alumni Chapter in recognizing the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award Winners, and stay to test your luck at our first ever Casino Night!

The festivities kick-off at 7 p.m. at the USF St. Petersburg Campus Activities Center with the presentation of the 2007 Distinguished Alumni Award Winners. Visit http://www.stpt.usf.edu/alumni/documents/NominationForms2007_000.pdf to nominate a deserving alumnus, or yourself, for an award.

Immediately following the awards presentation we will open the doors to our first ever Pinellas County Alumni Casino Night. The Campus Activities Center will be transformed into a casino featuring black jack, roulette, craps and Texas hold -em poker.

The entrance fee is $25 for Alumni Association members and $35 for non-members. All registration fees will be used to support student programs and scholarships sponsored by the USF Alumni Association. To register for this event visit http://www.usfalumni.net/cgi-any/activities.dll/show?id=404&bid=&template=event_register.htm.'>http://www.usfalumni.net/cgi-any/activities.dll/show?id=404&bid=&template=event_register.htm.

The registration fee includes gaming points plus one ticket for the grand prize drawing. Additional game points will be available for a donation at the event. Guests will enjoy a gourmet dessert buffet and coffee bar. A cash bar will also be available.

At the event take a break from the games to visit the silent auction. A variety of items will be available thanks to local Pinellas County businesses. This is another great way to support student programs and scholarships sponsored by the USF Alumni Association.

To register for this event visit http://www.usfalumni.net/cgi-any/activities.dll/show?id=404&bid=&template=event_register.htm or contact Katie Giglio at 727-873-4561 or kgiglio@spadmin.usf.edu.

Atlantic City Gambler Gives Birth On Casino Floor

(CBS/AP) ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. An Atlantic City woman playing the penny slots Saturday morning left the Resorts Atlantic City casino with her own little jackpot -- a new baby boy.

Thirty-two-year-old Nyree Thompson was eight months pregnant when she went into labor on the casino floor.

At first, she said she mistook the labor pains for gas.

But after going to the restroom she told a security guard that she might be giving birth.

Thompson said the guard thought she was joking. Then her water broke.

Minutes later, a boy weighing less than five pounds was born.

Four security guards helped Thompson deliver the baby, wrapping the child in a jacket until paramedics arrived.

Thompson and her son were taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out. She said despite being premature, the baby was doing fine.

I guess she it hit the JACKPOT!..........

Mutt,

I used to run casino events... any idea what company is putting this on for you?

If you need an extra (free) blackjack or poker table for the evening, let me know.  Have purchased some of the inventory over the years:)

Collin, the committee chose a company called Dan Mar based on past events and references.  I know you and I had talked about casino fund raisers in the past but I was hoping you could come and enjoy this evening rather than working since the dealers won't get tipped since it is a fund raising event.
