Coach Weiner(Plant High) on USF recruiting

He was on with Al Keck today and when asked about USF and their recruitment of Robert Marve, he said that Jim Leavitt and Carl Franks are very honest and up front with recruits. He said they do things "the right way" and that he has great respect for the program they're building and the way they're building it. He even said that even after losing Marve, that they called him and let him know that if they could ever help him in any way to let them know.

As for Marve, he said that Robert liked the coaches, how they recruited him, and everything about USF, but in the end staying home wasnt the most important thing to him.

The truth is, Marve was a bit scared of Grothe...he didn't think he could compete.

Lovell Jackson.RB he avg. between 9-10 ypc.Hes very fast.I think he already around 6-1.He should be able to put on more muscle.W/O Marve nx watch for Jackson to have a great  year.

QUIT BERATING THE RECRUITS FOR NOT PICKING USF.

Potential recruits and their families do visit these boards and when you have people insulting a kid it does reflect negatively on us.

Marve had his reasons for choosing Miami, their starter is a senior and he'd get playing time faster. USF has a QB who will probably be starting the next three seasons.

Be glad a top rated recruit like that took the time to actually consider USF in his decision.

I wish marve all the luck in the world. Except in September of 2009.

We do ok in the recruiting game.  We only have 25 scholarships we can offer.  The team generally gets 28 or so commits and inevitably a few do not qualify.  

We are in great shape this year.

Don't you mean gray shirt?

Redshirt are already on the team (I believe) although not playing their first year at USF.  Gray shirts I believe come to the school or team during the middle of the year.
