I honestly think he would be a Day 1 pick after his SR year here with the D we'll have.

his size and speed make him a prospect.

however, i think he would improve his situation if he waited 1 more year.

its a huge risk going out early that could cost you a lot of money.

if he does go, and does get drafted it would be in the late rounds, 2nd day pick.  his chances of making the team out of training camp would be harder, and his rookie contract wouldnt be as nice as it would if he went 1st day.

another thing to consider is if you go out early and get cut then your career is in a major uphill battle.  its a lot of practice squads and hoping the opportunity comes along.

i think mike will stay, it might be one of those moves just to get his name out among the scouts a little more and then with a strong senior year and a 1st team all big east spot he will end up going in the top 3 rounds for sure.

No harm in asking, but yeah....don't think he's quite there. Another year will definitely improve his stock.

I think this is a great thing.  First, as everyone points out, it is likely that NFL scouts will tell Mike to stay until next year.  Second, this is a great recruiting tool on two fronts...our coaches can say to any stud CBs we might still be after, look we may have an opening this fall, and look this staff develops NFL caliber defensive backs.  Yep, I like it.  And if Mike goes through with the draft, I will root him on on draft day and in the NFL.  I have faith in Jerome Murphy and Tyller Roberts.

mike will be on all the preseason lists tho next year....all big east, all america, DB trophy watch list.

leaving early could end up costing him over 1 million.

as long as he doesn't start asking an agent... he'll get a straight answer.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
