can someone confirm this...I heard rumors that we might be playin the gator bowl... and theres a possiblity of playin FSU at this bowl...

Florida State has been invited to the Emerald Bowl against UCLA.

NCAA Bylaws prohibit the 6-6 FSU team from being selected #3 in the ACC by the Gator Bowl.

Also, Big East rules prohibit USF from being selected for the Gator Bowl unless Rutgers and Louisville both go to the BCS.  If a 10-win Big East team is available, the Gator Bowl would have to select them before 8-win USF. (Per Brett's blog).

Get a clue people.  6-6 FSU has no chance at the Gator Bowl.  They are barely bowl eligible.

I think I know where this started.

A few weeks ago, the St Pete Times wrote an article (somewhat jokingly, somewhat serious) that suggested that USF and FSU should play in a bowl.

Earlier this week, an Oracle writer took it as gospel and put it in an article about where USF could end up for the postseason.

That's my guess as to how this rumor got started.
