Leavitt Dismisses Two Players from Football Squad

TAMPA, FLA. (November 13, 2006) -- Senior offensive tackle Thed Watson and junior receiver/return specialist Jackie Chambers have been dismissed from the USF football team, head coach Jim Leavitt said today. Leavitt cited a violation of team rules in each dismissal.

That's a shocker. Watson was in the dog house this summer, and I'm sure whatever he did had something to do with that.

Losing Watson is going to hurt us these last two games. I wish them both the best of luck.

Holy cow, what knuckleheads.  Chambers has done nothing since he's been back, but Watson hurts. Having said that, "rules are rules", boys.  Au revoir!

Who knows, both were on thin ice, and had to walk a thin line. It could have been the most innocent thing, but because of multiple previous warnings they didn't get off with suspension this time.(see: Marcus Thomas at UF kicked off for going to Halloween Horror Nights without telling Meyer).

Chambers suspension was well documented, as for Thed, we knew he was being considered for a redshirt going into his senior year.

I'm glad CJL had the galls to stand up to players who violate rules REPEATEDLY.

my first thought as well...and if it is the case...all i can say is WOW...he was only back for 4 games!

Well we go on from here.  Hope whatever those guys did it was worth it to them.  Glad CJL enforced rules.
