Hey,  you have to give props to Rod Smith.  He needed a good game and he came through.  The only play I questioned was the hook and lateral when it wasn't necessary.  

I didn't like the hook and ladder he called.

I agree.  The pursuit is already to that side of the field so what does that gimmick accomplish?

Even if Ponton catches it clean the play was not going for big yards.

It was a forward pass and then immediately lateralled back to the trailing back.

A stupid question but does that mean that the lateralee couldn't throw another forward pass?

Yes, only one forward pass per play.  Also, once the ball passes the line of scrimmage, there can't be a forward pass.  Even if it's lateralled back behind the line of scrimmage.

It will be interesting to take a look at the play later to see just what in the hell they did hope to accomplish.   :-/
