He’ll never get the attention of a Colt McCoy, Mitch Mustain or Tim Tebow, but South Florida’s Matt Grothe is halfway to becoming this year’s Freshman All-American quarterback. Grothe didn’t even begin the year as the starter, but he has sparked the Bulls with his competitiveness and scrambling ability. In Saturday’s blowout of Connecticut, he was 12-of-15 for 146 yards and a touchdown, adding 82 yards and three scores on the ground.

whoa....SLOW DOWN....

lets be happy with matt winning big east freshman of the year and a mvp of a bowl game victory.  as long as matt stays healthy and we keep a good supporting cast around him his trophy case will have some nice items.

but he is 6 games into his college career and hasnt really played a high powered team yet.  the closest thing he had to playing against one he threw 2 INTs and fumbled.

matt will be our best QB we've had but we need to take it one step at a time

We're halfway through the season and GrothE is obviously a candidate for Freshman All-American.

But, as we know these are also popularity contest and we are not a UF, TX, etc.

But his stats go a long way.
