NFL only suspends for 4 games compared to USF's 6 for a second test failure.  Heard this this morn on the radio I thought I'd mention it to get some board reaction.  After hearing it, I gotta say that maybe the USF suspension was greater than society standards.  Does that make it wrong or excessive?  I don't know but its probably the difference between 1 & 2 losses.  Should the players be a shamed.  Most definitely for being selfish.   Hopefully they've learned a tuff life lesson.  I believe Urban Meyer suspended some kid two games for the same.  He comes back vs. LSU.

I was listening to the same show.

They pointed out - and a lot of callers agree - that athletes, in college & pro,

are tested as part of their eligibility to participate. The average person out

in corporate America, may, get tested pre-employment, but that's it. Unless it

impacts your performance at work, ain't no big thang. Not so for athletes.

On reccomendation from the NCAA, USF has dropped it's suspension for second drug test failure from 1/2 of season to 1/4 of the season.  This is because the NCAA has found that the more strict the penalty, the more likely the kid is to revert to bad behavior, (due to depression and other hardships that come with long suspensions).  The ultimate goal is to get the kid to "turn around".

These three kids appealed the suspension, but they broke the rules when the old penalties were in effect.  The AD decided to make them serve the penalty that was in place at the time of infraction in order to be fair to other athletes that served the same penalty.

On the flip side, along with the NCAA reccomended lesser penalty, USF is now administering more drug tests across the board as they were way behind the national average at the number of tests administered.

It's actually not a quarter of the season now, but 20 percent.

20% of 12 is 2.4...2 or 3 games?

I miss Ponton, and he hasn't even had a chance to Razzle Dazzle yet.

SECOND FAILED TEST SHOULD  result in kid getting thrown off team

HE WONT STOP GETTING HIGH

YOU ARE JUST CONTINUING TO RELY ON AN UNRELIABLE PERSON

ALLOWING PERSON TO REMAIN ON TEAM AFTER 2 FAILED DRUG TEST SENDS THE WRONG MESSAGE

A TEAM THAT NEEDS MORE DISCIPLINE GETS LESS

yepp and they should change baseball to two strikes your out-- that would move the game along much faster. Tough if the hitters on't like it-- they are supposed to hit the ball and shutup
