Leavitt: Same offensive plan

By TIMES STAFF WRITERS and TIMES WIRES

Published October 6, 2006

TAMPA - Even though Connecticut's defense is ranked No. 6 nationally against the pass and not ranked at all against the run, coach Jim Leavitt said he wasn't planning on running the ball more or passing any less during Saturday's game.

I read it as him saying that he was going to take what the defense gives him and that he would like to run more.

I read it that way also, but sure we will be a pass first team Saturday ... but I do hope we have a break out by a RB ... and  am putting my love on Dorsey!

Play Selection

168 Rushing (83 by QB, 9 by WR) [76 by RB's]

141 Passing (2 by WR)

Go BULLS !!!

What is that offensive plan? Not score? Take out the 1AA game and our scoring average is:

21+24+7+20= 72

Thats 18 points a game. Even with our D that won't win us too many more games.

If he was planning on running more he would be a chump to tell a reporter and have it printed in the paper.

1. The only reason uconn is ranked so high against the pass is that they get mauled on the ground.

2. USF running game is not a strength right now.  In fact, it is a weakness.

So what's the call?  Mash your strength against theirs?  Or use your weakness against their weakness?  Good times.  Something will give, that's for sure.  Hope it's them.
