Those who want UCF series are shortsighted

I agree local sport radio sucks in Tampa. Ron Diaz is a douche. Ian acts like he played big time college ball. Please he played on a bad IU team. Silleo, enough said. And for Dumeg, I used to listen to him, but now that I have Sirius I realize how bad he sucks. If you disagree with him he says he'll kick your ass. Please old man, I would love to tangle with you someday.

The only person on that station is worth listening to is Whitney Johnson.

BullsfaninTx:  Amen, I could not have said it better myself. If we make an annual series out of UCF then people will always put us on the same level as them. Because there is no big distiction between the two schools now (unlike a WVA-Marshall or a Tenn-Memphis) where there is a big distinction between the schools, as long as we play UCF we will forever be linked in the same sentence as them.

If we want to be classified as the Big 4 we cannot be linked to UCF in the future, which means not playing them yr in and yr out.

Heard "Dead Air" Dumig on WDAE 620 at 3:00pm today and he was ripping CJL & USF. Said that he would not go see a USF v Buffalo game as it had no interest to him. Funny, he has probably not attended any USF games. He is a UMiami homer that never attended UMiami.

I realize that his ole stick is to berate the local teams to get listeners to call in. Unless you are a Lightning fan or a gambler we have no sports radio in Tampa.....

I popped in there for a few minutes around 4:30, right in the middle of a Kanigit crying about how we are all full of ourselves and we need to get over it...... It was a nasaly, whining voice that matched by personification of most UCFers on here .... Wasn't Phil, though, voice wasn't high enough and I didn't hear any spittle hit the phone as he ranted.  

One of those called in this morning on the dan sileo show. Man, they are PISSED that we have no interest in this game LMAO!

he went on and on about how we don't have a right to dismiss them...and all we ever did is beat Pitt while they beat alabama. I thought about calling in but I couldn't stop laughing.  ;D

Let me ask you this honestly, if ucf was located up north would you be looking at them in a different light than buffalo or ball state? Take away the proximity and there isn't much of a difference IMO

I woldn't go that far, They did go to a bowl game last year so that already separates from those two ....

I heard that this morning as well. He barely held it together thru the call. I think after the call, he cried himseld to sleep.

I think in the "now" UCF is a good game for USF.  It draws local attention and some fan support.  However, in the long run, a long term contract annual home and home deal with that school is leveling us on their level.  Being in the BCS we have an opportunity to elevate our school to national prominence.  We're not there yet which is why UCF, for now, is a good game to have, but for a school that claims it wants bigger and better, in the long run a long run series with UCF either relegates us to the second tier or helps them build their reputation which is why they want this series anyway.  They want to build an arguement for inclusion to the big kids table and beating us a few times will help them build that arguement, and I hate to admit it, right now I actually think they can do it.  

So I say, lets play the games and enjoy the rivarly for now, with the understanding that its really just a stepping stone to bigger and better things down the road.

I realize there are other "rivarly" games between bcs and non bcs teams but does anybody really care about colorado and colorado st.  How much do those teams really see each other as a rival.  In other words, does Colorado really view colorado state as their biggest rival, for some reason I doubt it.  Also, does that game get the attention of a Miami FSU game nationally?  I doubt it?  Finally, does anybody really think an annual game with UCF will help this program progress to where it wants to go?  It will help UCF and their goals of improving their stature but will it help USF, I don't think so.

Now I get the Ball states of the world won't help with any of that either but I'd rather have those games to play and get kinks worked out before our rival games start with our conference foes.  If we have a rivalary with UCF do you think FSU, Miami, UF or any other top tier college football program or fan will put us in that same top tier class?  I doubt it.  

Its the difference between the short and long term.  We have to grow and UCF only slows that down IMO.
