as a bigtime program they made less than $10m a year and NE as well

but look at some major $$$ the "real" big boys are making

Louisiana-Lafayette (which ran a $1.5 million football deficit in '04) opens at LSU (which had a profit of $28 million), then plays at Texas A&M (plus-$25 million) the next week. Troy (a deficit of one dollar, according to its statements) visits Florida State (plus-$6.6 million) Sept. 9 and Nebraska (plus-$9.5 million) Sept. 23. Florida Atlantic (minus-$2.8 million) opens at Clemson (plus-$11.8 million). Louisiana-Monroe (minus-$490,000) visits Alabama (plus-$28.8 million) Sept. 16. And so on.

where does usf fit (we are only 10 years old)?

Well we had decent paydays with Penn State and Miami.  But we were probably barely in the black.

According to some link provided some time ago(don't remember where), both UCF and USF reported in the black for athletics.  I can't remember if it was 04-05 or 05-06.

FSU doens't have the level of boosters that those other schools have. When it comes down to it, most those programs make their money from boosters shelling out 10s of thousands of dollars in booster fees annually for the seats.

where did you get figures 96? i read a piece about usc that they  got over 65 million last year for athletic donations

\

fsu has nothing to gain playing usf

they are expected to beat us and if they lose it is considered a disaster

usf would never play ftu.ou.oc if it was up to leavitt so it is hypocritical for usf to lambast fsu for not playing us

Apparently, F$U isn't selling tickets like they used to:

Orange Bowl workout set; extra FSU tickets on saleBY SUSAN MILLER DEGNAN

sdegnan@MiamiHerald.com

Tonight is the night to get a taste of 2006 University of Miami football -- even if it tastes like vanilla.

It's also the night to grab some tickets to the Sept. 4 opener against Florida State at the Orange Bowl, as UM announced Monday that the Seminoles have returned 2,000 tickets of its 10,000-plus allotment for the Labor Day night game. Those tickets, sideline reserved, will be on sale tonight as part of a two-game $80 package that includes a ticket to the Sept. 9 Florida A&M game.

You may be mixing total revenue with just Football profit.

http://ope.ed.gov/athletics/

Southern Cal's 2005 figures:

Overall Revenue: $61 million

Football Revenue: $29 million

Football Expenses: $17 million

But you have to think that much of that other revenue is due to the football program even if it didn't come directly from it (merchandise sales, etc).

BTW, FSU's 2005 figures:

Overall Revenue: $39 million

Football Revenue: $18 million

Football Expenses: $9 million

Why is it when we say someone is ducking us (like FSU) people agree, but when UCF says the same thing about USF people get defensive?

According to that site, USF was about $80,000 in the red for its football program (Plus $750,000 in all sports combined). UCF on the other hand was $2.9 million in the red in football (overall their sports revenue was plus $500,000)
