maybe ftu/ou/oc should spent money on academics and not stadiums

this is bad for them

Shouldn't these rankings be dependent more on the colleges within the University, and what major you're interested in?  Sure FSU should be up at 110, hell I'd say top 10, that is if you're going to college to be a clown   ;D

Now UF at 47?  I can see their medical school with Shands being ranked up there, but as for the rest of the school, how does that make sense?  These rankings have to be based on how many out of state kids attend (with out of state money).  Lots of rich brats from all over the country come to the big party in Gainseville.

These rankings are retarded.

How do you expect the average SAT and GPA average of admitted students at USF -- which accepts around 10K kids each year -- to be any where near the average of a UVA -- which accepts 3K.

A smaller pool allows those statistics to stay inflated.  Not saying that they don't get 10K students to apply with high overall stats, its just so retarded how they do it.

UF admits like 13K freshmen each year -- of which like 7K enroll.  HOw can they compete with colleges that admit half that amount.

Just totally bunk stats.  It is why you will rarely see a school with a total enrollement over 30K in the top 15.

Maybe Michigan and UCLA, but that is about it.

More good news........

Third year's the charm for USF to hit $300M

After inching close to the $300-million mark for two years, the University of South Florida raked in $310-million in state, local and federal research dollars for the budget year that ended June 30, USF president Judy Genshaft announced Friday. That's $23-million more than last year and 65 percent more than five years ago. Among public Florida universities, only the University of Florida brings in more: close to $500-million. USF also improved its ranking in U.S. News & World Report's annual report on America's best colleges, moving from a fourth-tier institution to a third-tier. Robert Chang, USF's vice president for research, already has a new goal - breaking the $400-million mark.
