I really don't care that he worked at a car dealership and got a decent pay...all I care about is the fact he threw for 2000 yards and 20 + touchdowns.

Bring the boy in..

Notebook: Texas A&M-Commerce interested in Bomar

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)  Texas A&M-Commerce has asked Oklahoma for permission to contact ousted quarterback Rhett Bomar to discuss his possible transfer to the school.

Commerce officials confirmed Friday that they're interested in having the former Sooners starter play for the Division II school.

Coach Bob Stoops dismissed Bomar and offensive lineman J.D Quinn from the team on Wednesday for breaking NCAA rules by accepting compensation beyond the actual hours they worked at a Norman car dealership.

In response to media inquiries, A&M-Commerce released a statement from Jim Johnson, director of athletics.

"First and foremost, like the University of Oklahoma, Texas A&M University-Commerce is an NCAA member institution firmly committed to following all NCAA rules and legislation," Johnson said. "We are firmly committed to ensuring that we diligently educate our coaches, student-athletes and boosters on those rules.

"That said, we have sent a request, per NCAA legislation, to the University of Oklahoma asking permission to contact Rhett Bomar and to discuss the possibility of his transfer to A&M-Commerce.

"Until the release is returned to us, we have no further comment at this time regarding Bomar."

Bomar, of Grand Prairie, Texas, set an Oklahoma freshman record with 2,018 passing yards last season after taking over as the starter in Week 2.

An attempt to contact Bomar on Friday night was unsuccessful.

We cant afford to pay him what he is used to.

By the way

Harrison Beck has been given his release at Nebraska, but sounds like a head case and his mom's comments are outrageous

his mom's comments are outrageous

I was wondering if someone else would pick up on that.

Look...you may be 'da man' over at Clearwater, but on

Saturday...you're gonna be eyeball to eyeball with Tejas

or Oklahoma...not Dunedin High.

Maybe he's been crying on mom's shoulder, and maybe

mom actually believe he was 'da man' in Nebraska.

However, as soon as he gets off th plane in Lincoln...let

me introduce you to fifty-odd other guys who were 'da man'

wherever they came from. I don't know if the recruiters

told him he would start or what, but this is a bit more serious

than "I'm not getting the reps".

I went to high school with Beck, he is a head case but he has 1,000 times more talent then what I have seen from the USF Duo (trio?) As for his mom, I'm pretty positive that she died when he was like 8 or so...so maybe it was his step-mom?

He was also promised 4 years of starting, and they had to break his red shirt last season for 5 plays.

1-5 with a pick, as I said they wanted to redshirt him but he was forced into action in the 4th quarter vs Kansas.

promised 4 years of starting,

I find it difficult to believe that there's an 18-year old

whose been around the game this long, to have swallowed

that one hook, line and sinker.  Surely these kids - or their

parents at least - understand how this thing works.

Then again, if you actually, honestly believe that the sun

rises and sets on your precious little punkin' ... well, you

really need to get out more.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."

    Terry Lucas, 09/26/22
