Off the UCF crap..your just as bad as them talking about the obsession.

Apologist.

I'm not being an apologist, I just don't want this thread hijacked by another USF/UCF discussion we have about 5 or 6 of them going on the front page now. By keeping that discussion going it's just stupid.

Ya we did give him a chance to succeed and WE know that, other schools are going to point at the fact that we "quit" on him after one year...

Not to mention the good majority on this board had this guy tabbed as the next great player at USF and the guy who was leading us to the BCS by 2009.

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bad thing that the biggest recruit in our program's history is out after one season?

It is certainly a loss, but not devastating.  When you are elevating the level of acceptable recruit you are willing to consider on an annual basis, then it is always a toss-up between ability, intellect & character.

We are competing for a piece of a far smaller pie as a member of a BCS conference and we're going to need a few more years of success to get to the next level of recruits.

Joe, this thread was started by a Kanigit ... It was doomed from the beginning.  8-)

No...we all think it's a bad thing that he's out after one season, but here's the deal sportsfans: dumbness is expensive.  Contrary to what the recruit may think...yes, you do have to actually have some scholastic endevor. It's not like you were hired to play football...you were recruited with the understanding that you would manage to go some time sans cheeba and crack open a book. Failure to get your arms around that concept can result in just this.

I think Matt's right...if he's JUCO...he's history.

...This is huge, ... it's going to be fuel to the fire when schools are recruiting against us. ...

I see it being as little effect.

Winning on the field, a great facility, and the BCS help our recruiting!

Go BULLS !!!

He was still potential ... what about the great recruits that never even play a down ... and we have recruits that were not as highly regarded playing in the NFL.

It is a bad thing, but far from devistating (sp? - Vanna, I need a vowel)

so much went wrong with hill

1.he should have been redshirted freshman year

2.he should have paid more attention to grades

3. he should have been more careful when smoking pot

4.he may have needed more academic support from staff

this will not hurt usf recruiting

usf still has a ton of potential and any great football player would love a chance to play in rjs,in tampa and compete for national championship in big east conference

good luck hill

Smazza that is a wonderful post.

Seriously.

As unlikely as it seems right now, I hope Hill still ends up starring for the Bulls.

None of his indiscretions show him to be a bad person.

If i have had girls throwing themselves at me in the janitors closet, i may have acted similarly to Hill.  And of course i dont know anyone who smokes marijuana  ;)

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
