You are correct I remeber being at the Orange Bowl on 2 occasions when OU got beaten by the Canes and the players and all the fans were saying it does not matter we beat Texas. Switzer said  no problem we beat Texas the next year he beat Texas and lost Big 8 and was asked to resign. You might have only cared about UT but the Majority of Alumni and fans want to win their conference and Bowl game that is how the money is made. UT had to win their conference to win NC this year. By the way had JJ beat Switzer three times in a row at OSU instead of Miami he would have been gone sooner- boomer

You are  correct.

I wasn't saying that the Big 8 wasn't important..it sure as hell was...but not a single game in conference compared to OU - UT when it came to the hoopala (rivalry) on part the fans (students, alumni, donors) as whole.

That doesn't mean the campus and  Norman weren't abuzz during the weeks when other conference rivals and others teams ( Notre Dame, Syracuse, USC)  were coming to town or the team was going on the road.

I'm not on the USF campus during the week much, but from what I gather and judging by student attendance at the games I say that, that kind if interest is just not there....and from what I have seen very little was or is being done to foster it.
