Cann To Miss Remainder Of 2005-06 Following Surgery

Tampa, Fla. – University of South Florida men’s basketball player Zaronn Cann will miss the remainder of the 2005-06 campaign following knee surgery on Feb. 1.

The successful operation repaired the anterior cruciate ligament in the left knee, which he injured Dec. 15 versus Florida Atlantic.

Cann will immediately begin the six-month rehabilitation process and is expected to return to the court in August, prior to the start of workouts for the 2006-07 season.

Cann, a graduate of nearby Brandon High School, will redshirt his first season at USF and have four seasons of eligibility remaining.

The freshman forward appeared in four games this season, earning one starting assignment.  He averaged 2.5 points and 0.8 rebounds in seven minutes per outing.

Silver lining... it happened early in the season.  4 more years.  He showed some skill in the time he played, although he was timid at times.  Hopefully he can get healthy and contribute.  He has all the natural talent in the world, if his body will let it show.

Searching back, the only official word I can find that he wouldn't play again this year was from Dr Reaper........

Gotta love Velcro and Bigshoop.  If you guys where on the Titanic when it hit the iceburg you would be saying "Band sure sounds good tonight"  LOL

This is hardly comparable to the titanic.  We knew he had bad knees from the moment he signed.  This wasn't a surprise at all.  The kid can still play.  I know the knees will always be a big question mark, but that doesn't mean it is hopeless...and where there is hope, I'll find it.

Lighten up Velcro.  Just trying to add a little humor.  I didn't go on a tirade about Mac, the team or anything else.  If anything it was a complement to the guys who can see something positive even in the darkest hour.
