Hopefully the committee saves at least 2 spots for g5 teams but I really see it is as a 11+1. I wish all fbs conferences get to send one scholarship then invite the remaining best 3-4 teams. Every team that loses first round goes to a loser bracket for bowl games. Top 2 seeds get a bye next round and make a 6 team winners bracket. Tall order, but it will happen someday hopefully before I'm too old to go. Edited December 6, 2023 by MaltLiquorBull

Chances are we will only need both programs to be ranked top 25, which is very possible. There have been some really strong season opening games in recent years, so the competition will be tight and still unlikely (quick look at a couple of schedules, Alabama vs WVU, UGA @ FSU). So my guess is after OCS opens. Considering there are now like 4 college football morning shows now, there's a decent chance that we host *one* of them though, just not GameDay. Just my opinion.
