That would be logical, if you choose to ignore the massive drop in quality of opponent. How does this years team do with last years schedule…and vice versa?

As bad as last years defense was, this years defense, outside of the Alabama anomaly, is playing worse competition and seemingly doing worse at it. On offense, clearly we had more talent at the skill positions last season so how much of our offensive performance this year gets attributed to playing lesser opponents. Inquiring minds want to know.

We've won 4 games so I'm not sure how one could say we are "doing worse at it" and while we may be playing a "softer" schedule overall due to the migration of teams and the OOC schedule this year, we lost to some pretty bad teams the past couple of years.   I get your point, but I think it is obvious we are better.  how much better could be open for discussion, but we're in year 1 so I'll take any improvement we get

Well, according to the geeks on here we are just following the numbers. The fact that most college and NFL teams would punt from deep in their own territory matters not. Didn't watch the entire game. What were our stats yesterday going for it on 4th down?

Think we used the 4th down play to try to draw them offsides. Also gave punter five extra yards to do some coffin corners…

Think we noticed tons of good things happening despite the loss yesterday. If Memphis is supposed to be one of the top teams in the AAC then I do believe USF is not that far off from competing for the AAC championship next season imo

Maybe one day we’ll have a defense that doesn’t give up 6-8 touchdowns a game 🤷🏽‍♂️

Of course. Been there before. It will again

Nope!

Like literally this year. Defense is bad but saying “nope” is just inaccurate

And if people are watching closely they can see the defense showing signs of life compared to last season. I’m sorry but USF run defense has been a bright spot this season. Now teams are having a hard time running against USF however they do find it easy to pass. Once USF figures that out then they will be competing for the AAC title next season
