Don't know if this has been mentioned yet but......

I like the match-ups that the Big East has in their bowl games this year but I think they also got a little screwed if you look at the lineups.

Rutgers vs. Arizona St.  Insight Bowl in Phoenix, AZ

USF vs. NC State   Car Care Bowl in Charlotte, NC

WVU vs. Georgia  Sugar Bowl in Atlanta, GA

UL vs. VaTech  Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL

Except for the Gator Bowl, the Big East is basically playing a road game instead of a bowl game, because all of the opponents, except VaTech, is basically at home.

because the bowl directors like to have one local team in the bowl to generate a certain number of almost guaranteed sales for the lower ranked bowls

The Big East isn't exactly tied into the biggest games. These games don't draw well at all without local teams to help bring in the revenue. It's the commish's job to get the best bowl games for the Big East. They really should have tried to get in on the Champs Bowl which will feature the 3rd choice of Big Ten v. 4th Choice of ACC next year, but we didn't want it..

We should be in a bowl game every year from now on.  ;)

True, but at least there are neutral conference refs at each bowl game.  At least the 'visiting' team isn't fighting the fans AND the refs.

Yes, Champs and Liberty were clear misses.

Because the Big East would have had a chance to play higher rated Big 10 and SEC teams. Right now we're stuck with bowls that pit us against the bottom of both leagues. Plus the Payout for those bowls is much higher (Champs will be almost 2 M next year, Liberty around 1.5M) only the Gator bowl has a payout like that right now.
