You always have to take it one game at a time but we only have 1 team, on our remaining schedule, that currently has a winning record. With continued improvement, we have a chance to be very successful this year.
Yeah I wonder if Brown has an ankle injury or something. Has hasn’t run on any QB runs and when he drops back, he goes into statue mode instead of having active feet.
Way too many mistakes/turnovers in first half. But very excited that we are winning despite those mistakes. Last few years we would be down 35-0 with those mistakes.
Proud to see the fight in this team especially the offense. Hopefully the lightbulb went off for the offense and this was a precursor of things to come.
Overall proud of the performance
Defense played an unbelievable game and hats off to all of the defensive players and coaches.
offense was pretty terrible all around. Now a lot of that is because it was Alabama. Offensive line wasn’t great but probably did better than I expected. BB was very inaccurate and made many bad decisions. RB did pretty good. WR may now be the worst group on the team. They can’t catch or get open. Play calling I felt was too vanilla.
1 and 3 step drops. Rollout passes with more than 1 WR option. RB and WR screens. If you get run game going then you might open up some play action passes.
My thought was more along the lines of a defensive assistant that has been in the Saban/Kirby Smart lineage. My concern with Orlando is more from the standpoint that most of his defenses have been 50-75 ranked kind of defenses and that is with programs more talented than us and with more resources/recruiting edge than us. So knowing how bad our defense is is what makes me apprehensive about Orlando. As weak of an argument as it may sound.
Underwhelmed by HC hire but hopeful. The DC hire felt rushed and again was underwhelming. I try to remind myself that we had essentially the worst defense in college football so even an underwhelming DC is probably an improvement. As long as he can get the defense playing with an aggressive attitude, I’ll be pleased.
Coach Patrick is one of the more intense coaches around. He would be awesome as a D line coach. Haven’t followed him recently to know how he would be as a DC.
Just be prepared that Spring ball and preseason scrimmages will essentially be a no win situation. If the offense looks lights out then everyone will be complaining about how our defense is still terrible. If defense improves and offense doesn’t do as well, then everyone will be upset that hiring the offensive guru failed.
I will withhold judgement until September.
