I can't remember any game where Flowers had the ball in his hands for the last series of the game (with more than 30 seconds on the clock) where he didn't lead us down the field to a W in his last two years at USF. Hence, the Wilcox fumble in my opinion cost Q an opportunity to continue his magic on the field. Ball control is everything - it's preached everyday in practice - especially on game winning/last minute drives. That fumble was brutal - and his to own forever.

We were ahead in the game in the 4th quarter and stopped UCF near midfield on downs. We did nothing with our opportunity there. That's when the game changed.

Also, you can argue that spotting UCF 21 points early before making any defensive changes also cost us the game.

Yup a lot of things I'd point at before Mitch Wilcox's fumble.

From the end of the 1st quarter to midway through the 4th quarter they went on a stretch where they scored a total of 7 points over 9 drives!!! If we had someone besides Sterlin Gilbert that could have kept our offense rolling like in 2016 we would have ran away with it there.

Also penalties/special teams killed us at some key points

I'm with the Sheriff on this one, I don't continue to hold a grudge, but when I see him playing, I automatically think about that fumble. In every game, there are moments one can point to that was huge one way or another, but Q was the most clutch player I have ever witnessed. The kid could go 5-20 in the first 3 quarters and then flip a switch in the 4th and make crazy plays to lead his team to a win. In my soul, I will always believe that he would have scored a TD on that drive if Wilcox didn't fumble that ball... is that the reason we lost? Maybe not, there are possibly other reasons, but I would argue that he took away the chance for Q to take it and go WIN.

Wasn't Mike White getting murdered in the pocket again a la USF?  I didn't watch.

"There is no inherent fear among this group of players. The fear of failing drove the program from day one - the fear of failing the coaches, the fan base, the university, each teammate, themselves. Now, as we head into the biggest game in our history at home on a national stage against the highest ranked team to step on OUR field, the players are taking an introspective look at themselves. Unfortunately, I don't know if they get it. They lack the fear."
