OK, 4th quarter, something like 7 minutes left in the game Cincy is down 31-13. On 4th down about our 25, does Cincy coach go for it and try to get them back in the game? Noooooooooo, he kicks a field goal? What??

What was the spread? And if it was more than 15, anyone think Cincy coach had money on the game? I thought it was complete garbage.

If that wasn't weird enough, they attempt an on-side kick on the insuing kickoff. Sure Cincy, I bet you are in it to win the game.

7 min is a long time in a football game and plenty of time to score 2 td's...... Only way I'd maybe go for it irather than kick the fg is if it was 4th and inches.

LOL.  Maybe that's true.

Almost any coach would kick a FG in that situation.  When you're down by 3 scores, you take your best odds at each opportunity for scoring.

More CFB coaches than not would try to:

1.  Kick that FG on 4th.

2.  Score a TD and kick PAT

3.  Score a TD and go for 2.

The only exception would be if the opposing defense appeared tired at #2, in which case you'd go for 2 first, and then consider either PAT or going for 2 again at #3.
