SPORTS.YAHOO.COM

It's a new day in college sports, and some college administrators are dealing with it differently than others.

The most important questions for fans: Who’s in The Club? Membership in the new division is murky. How many can afford it? That number is probably 30-50 universities, industry experts contend. How many will afford it? Maybe that number is higher, as programs scratch to avoid being left out.

Twice during his speaking engagement Wednesday, Baker mentioned 100 universities. FBS is at 133. The Power Four is at 69.

“Most of the schools in the autonomy conferences will feel that’s something they want to do,” Livingstone said.

Whether only a portion of conferences can join the new league is “subject to discussion,” she said. And whether a conference continues to exist as is without all of its members joining is probably a question for the conference itself and not the NCAA, she added.

That was in response to a post saying we should have been part of expansion years ago, which isn't supportable. Was not about our future ...

It absolutely is supportable.  The process didn’t begin when the XII ultimately offered membership-the vetting was in 2015/16, nearly 9 years ago and only a short time after our peak performance.  A quicker or more efficient rebuild or better maintenance in the early/mid ‘10s and we’re in.

The actual "breakaway" was when the XII offered membership, only 3 years ago. Your comment was, "the breakaway we should’ve been a part of years ago". That wording, to me anyway, indicates a lot longer time ago than just 3 years. If you had indicated it was when the 3 from the AAC were pulled up, not that much to disagree on.

The question is was it the final breakaway?  Before we start knocking down the oaks to build Subdivisions called The Oaks?

Multiple schools are going to leave once the GOR opens up.

Why leave when next year there are crap tons of playoff spots.  Ain’t getting snubbed from the ACC next year with a 12-0 record.  Prolly not even with an 11-1 record.

Exactly. Thought the same about the playoff thing and then realized it's all about the dollars ....

Basically it seems to be tons more behind FSU motives besides being snubbed…  FSU & ACC seems like a marriage gone bad.

why do people assume that FSU CAN leave?

they made a public plea earlier this year saying they were ready to go and they heard crickets.

maybe the big 10 and sec have no interest
